Attorney Jillian Kochis joins Shrive Law, LLC as an Associate Attorney

Attorney Kochis has over 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney. Her areas of practice include Criminal Defense, Family Law, Adoptions/Dependency, Wills/Estate Law, and Business/Franchise Law. She graduated with honors from Scranton High School in 2009. In 2013, Kochis graduated with honors from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justice. In 2017, Attorney Kochis received her Juris Doctorate with a Certificate in Trial Advocacy from Widener University Commonwealth Law School in Harrisburg, PA. She was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2017 and the U.S. Supreme Court in 2023.

Attorney Kochis is licensed to practice and a member in good standing before all State Courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Supreme Court. *Licensed to Practice Law in Pennsylvania & New York. Attorney Kochis began her legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Michael J. Barrasse, then President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. After her clerkship, Attorney Kochis joined a small general practice firm as an Associate Attorney and became an Assistant Public Defender in Lackawanna County. In 2022, Attorney Kochis opened her own law firm in Scranton, PA.

In addition to being an Assistant Public Defender, Attorney Kochis has also dedicated her career to providing Pro Bono legal services. She regularly accepts referrals through Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.’s Attorney Referral Program, as well as court appointments in Lackawanna, Bradford, and Monroe Counties to provide legal services to indigent individuals. She earned the Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award from Widener University in 2017 and the Lackawanna County Pro Bono Service Award in 2020.

Her professional memberships include the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Lackawanna Bar Association, Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Public Defender’s Association of Pennsylvania.
